Larp photography is about capturing fleeting moments, triumphs and sorrows – showing the players’ strength and beauty. It is about showcasing a wonderful and diverse hobby. But most of all, it is about walking, lots and lots of walking.
We are looking for people interested in learning to be a larp photographer – a skill set that is also useful when it comes to doing other types of event photography. During the game, Conscience – Tabernas, Almerรญa, Spain – 2-5 March and/or 9-12 March 2024, we will cover topics such as:
- Looking for good scenes and how to move to be a good “fly on the wall”.
- Camera settings and equipment choices (in addition to what gear you might have, we will have a nice selection of Sony equipment on hand).
- On-location portraits using primarily natural light
- Feedback on photos taken during those days (and after)
- Self-care during long working days
- Editing and selection of photos (using primarily Lightroom).
What we are looking for is somebody who wants to develop these skills. It might be your first time trying yourself at larp/event photos. We want to see some of your previous work – especially what you are proud of. If there are any special topics you are interested in learning more about, be it technical or thematic.
You will be working with Kai Simon Fredriksen, a Norwegian larp photographer who has been working with NotOnlyLarp for many years and has photographed several Conscience runs. His work can be found at https://www.instagram.com/nomine/ (not Larp-related) and https://www.blockedshadows.com/portfolio
This isn’t a paid position, but we can help with 150โฌ for transportation per run you attend and accommodations between runs if you attend both.
A note about the location: This is the Spanish Almerรญa desert, which makes for sunny days and cold nights.
